Symbiosis Institute of Design is a constituent of Symbiosis International University, established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 vide notification No. 9-12/2001-U.3 dated 10th November 2006 of UGC, Government of India.
Symbiosis International University (SIU) is a private co-educational, multi-institutional University located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. It has been given official recognition by the UGC and the AICTE. The Indian NAAC has conferred an 'A' grade to the University. SIU is part of the Symbiosis Society which is its managing body.

Offered
Symbiosis Institute of Design presently offers a four year Under-Graduate programme in Design and is under the 'Faculty of Media, Communication and Design' of the Symbiosis International University.
The undergraduate programme in design is of four years duration, 200 credit degree programme and the degree offered by the SIU is Bachelor of Design (B. Des) which has been approved by UGC and is included in the Section 22 of the UGC.
After the 1 year foundation course, students can specialise in
- Communication Design
Communication Design especially further branches out after second year into four specializations viz. Graphic Design, Video Film design, Animation Film Design, User Experience Design
- Fashion Communication
- Industrial Design
- Fashion Design
Eligibility:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 (any stream) or equivalent with minimum of 50% marks obtained in the final examination to be eligible for the above mentioned programmes.
The candidate should possess Creative Aptitude & Skills necessary to pursue Design Education as well as adaptability to the situations which the profession demands.
Candidates with the relevant portfolio would be preferred.

How to Apply:
For Indian Students :
All Indian students are required to take the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET 2012) which will be held on May 5, 2012 (Saturday). Without a valid SET score, no candidate is entitled to seek admission to SID.
After applying for SET 2012 at www.set-test.org., teh candidate has to register to the institute (SID) atwww.sid.edu.in separately.
The result of SET for Design will be put up on the SET website as per the schedule. If a candidate qualifies SET 2012, he/she would eligible to appear for Studio Test.
Studio Test will be conducted at SID, Pune campus on 1st June to 5th June 2012. If a candidate qualifies the Studio Test, he/she is eligible to appear for Personal Interview.
Personal Interview will be conducted at SID, Pune campus from 1st June to 5th June 2012.
Final selection would be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Studio Test and Personal Interview as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and his/her first preference of one of the four disciplines.
For International Students
All the admissions of international Students are handled only through the Symbiosis International Office and not through individual institutes of Symbiosis. www.scie.ac.in
Note : International students are not required to appear for “SET for Design”.
